HostRocket 2009 User Submitted Reviews

HostRocket, founded in 1999, is a multi million dollar corporation founded in Upstate New York. Over 10 years later, Host Rocket serves over 50,000 top websites world wide. They are also home to hundreds of Dedicated Servers and privately own their own datacenter.

Check out the HostRocket website here. This is one of the web hosts that I actually recommend to people. I don’t do that for many, believe me.

One thing I like about HostRocket is that they are one of the very few hosts that own and operate their own datacenter. This can become very handy because you can directly respond to any problem that may arise instead of counting on another set of staff or another company to resolve the problem for you.

Types of services offered:

  • Shared Web Hosting – their current plan boasts unlimited disk space and unlimited bandwidth starting at $4.95/m. They also allow you to host unlimited websites on a single plan which is rare for a unlimited service provider.
  • Reseller Web Hosting – They have been known to provide solid reseller hosting throughout the reseller web hosting community. For as little at $8.99/m, you can start your own web hosting biz.
  • Dedicated Servers - Host Rocket provides entry level web servers for a real affordable price. Their most basic server is only $69.99/m.

Researching your Web Hosting Choices

Before you signup is pretty much required these days. With so many web hosting companies starting up each day, it’s impossible to know what you are getting into. One thing that you should always do before sign up is test their customer service response times. Simply send an email or create a ticket to the sales and support departments. For sales, just ask a couple general pre-sales questions. See how long it takes them to get back to you and also how the quality of their reply is. If its just a sentence long with a bunch of yes and no answers to your questions they probably don’t need your business. After that, test support out. Send them a quick email stating that you are testing the support department reply times. Keep it short so you aren’t wasting their time.

After you have tested support response, it is time to check out reviews by current and prior customers. The best place for you to do this is, without a doubt, www.webhostingtalk.com. If the hosting company exists, this place will have everything you possibly need to know about the company. The great thing about this place is that if a customer creates a complaint about a company, the host has a chance to respond back. Sometimes customers can get mad and out of anger make a completely biased review towards to company. It is important you don’t take each review for face value. Sometimes the reviews can be unfair towards a certain party.

If you happen to read a couple bad reviews about a certain hosting business, don’t let these deter you. In the web hosting industry, no matter how great a company is, there is always a few bad reviews floating around. If you find more good reviews than bad, chances are the web hosting company is a good one.
